Welcome back to our second SpaceTime newsletter. This week, we’ll be talking about… well, this newsletter! But first, a reminder of our format:

Alright, let’s dive in!
Storytime
Last week, we started this newsletter to establish a communication channel with our readers. We wanted to share our journey, but also bake accountability into our weekly routine. The response has been positive. Some statistics:
6,823 impressions from LinkedIn 👀
421 views of the Newsletter 🧐
27 subscribers 💌 (thank you!)
3 new Twitter followers for @spacetime_app
It all materialized quickly. Last Tuesday morning, we discussed what we might want in a weekly memo, and by keeping it short and formulaic, we sent something out later that afternoon.
Consistency is key for compounding. But we believe consistency is hard to sustain without simplicity and fun. Complex routines are quickly abandoned. Habits without rewards never form. We hope that this newsletter compounds in its usefulness over time, and so we’re keeping it simple and fun.
In future weeks, we won’t go deep into the newsletter stats (focusing instead on SpaceTime itself), but rest assured that we’ll keep these updates coming.
🍻 Here’s to establishing consistency!
Metrics
Weekly Active Users: 24
The day’s not done, so we this might go up, but we’re happy with the last 7 days (from 12 to 24).
Number of records created (a record is either a task or note): 65*
*There was an issue where we were accidentally double counting records on Monday. So the graph actually shows 130, but we know better. The real count is much closer to 65 (possibly a little higher, but better to be a little conservative).
Highlights
On Sunday, we released version 1.3!
It contains the following
Data migration to Realm: Geek alert 🤓 - Realm is a local data store that lives on each phone. It makes it easier to ship features that require analyzing data on a user’s device (Because, no user data ever hits our servers, it was previously cumbersome to implement complex features that required a bit of data analysis. Realm makes this a lot easier)
Notifications: this has been a missing feature for a while, and a big pain point for users. You can now set notifications for all scheduled tasks and notes in the new settings tab! Fun fact, Notifications leverage Realm (hooray for infrastructure! 🏗)
Additionally, another big highlight is the rise in WAUs. We went from 12 to a peak of 27, and we’re very happy to see more people try SpaceTime!
Lowlights
Another week, same lowlight: retention. Many users evaluate SpaceTime, but do not return after a couple days. Much of this is expected. It takes a lot of time to adopt a tool like SpaceTime. We hope some of these users will come back (maybe weeks, or months later), but we recognize that for most users, we’re not delivering a magic moment fast enough.
If you’ve given SpaceTime a try, want to like it, but have struggled to find a way to make it stick, we’d love to hear your perspective. What was the hardest thing about using SpaceTime? What features must SpaceTime have before you can rely on it?

Miscellaneous
🧠 Last week we started a Brain Trust - a group of users who advise us on what their pain points are, what features they’d like to see, and have access to TestFlight beta releases. We’re excited to incorporate feedback and insights from our Brain Trust! If you’re interested in being part of this group, let us know at team@getspacetime.app
🚧 Started building a web demo for SpaceTime. This is a longer term project and might be a while before we ship, but we’ve been able to make rapid prototypes and experiment with larger screen sizes.
❤️ We hope you had a loving, relaxing, and contemplative MLK Day!
If you haven’t tried SpaceTime yet, here’s a quick link to check us out on the app store!
